Two influencers horrifically drowned after they refused to wear lifejackets and their overcrowded boat sank.
Police say Aline Tamara Moreira de Amorim, 37, and Beatriz Tavares da Silva Faria, 27, died after a yacht party boat sank off the Devil’s Throat coast last month.
The pair had been part of a large group, who were taking selfies and enjoying their time out at sea in Brazil.
However, it was found during the investigation that their boat was swamped with too many people as they left the party.
Sao Vincente police commissioner Marcos Alexandre Alfino told local media their reason for not wearing a lifejacket was because they didn’t want it to disrupt their selfies.
He said: “Some didn’t want to put them on because they were taking selfies.
“They said that they get in the way of their tanning.”

The boat’s skipper, who has not been named by police, had been co-operating with police and giving extensive interviews.
He also desperately attempted to save the influencers when the boat sank.
The captain, who is only one of the five survivors, claimed to have been told to take six influencers to the shore, even though his boat should only hold a maximum of five passengers.
Vanessa Audrey da Silva, Camila Alves de Carvalho, Daniel Goncalves Ferreira, Gabriela Santos Lima and Natan Cardoso Soares da Silva were the other survivors of the tragic sinking.
Local media reported that when the boat was hit by a large wave on September 29, the boat was unable to endure the heaviness, and it began to sink.
According to reports, Beatriz’s body was found first and recovered by Maritime Firefighters as it was drifting out to sea.
However, Aline wasn’t found for another week as her body washed up on Itaquitanduva Beach.
Now, police are investigating whether this could have been a preventable tragedy.
Commissioner Alfino said: “All this is being determined very calmly to conclude if the fatalities were based on recklessness or negligence.”
Aline was a mother of one, who could not swim and had posted her last social media post of her on the boat.
Vanessa later explained to local media that the group of influencers had met up to party on a luxury yacht, where they were drinking.

But then, they split into two groups to make the return journey home.
However, Vanessa was on the boat that was hit by the wave, and survived after she managed to find a lifejacket and clung onto rocks so that she didn’t drown.
She said: “There was a moment in the water when no one could see anyone. I was fighting for life.”
Camila, another survivor said she clung onto a lifejacket in her hand.
She said: “There were very strong waves, we almost died. We didn’t know how to swim. I knew that I couldn’t take it for long. I hurt my foot and swallowed a lot of water.
“We threw ourselves into the rocks.”
UNILAD contacted Sao Vincente police for a comment.

Liam Payne’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy has revealed the One Direction star wrote her a letter about his plans to stay ‘together forever’ before his sudden death.
The 31-year-old passed away earlier this month after falling from the third floor of the CasaSur hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Tributes have been pouring in online, including from Payne’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy, who took to Instagram yesterday to commemorate the star.
Cassidy took to her Instagram page to share photographs of her and Payne alongside a heartfelt statement.
It read: “I don’t even know where to begin. My heart is shattered in ways I can’t put into words. I wish you could see the huge impact you’ve had on the world, even as it feels so dark right now.
“You brought so much happiness and positivity to everyone – millions of fans, your family, friends, and especially me. You are so incredibly loved.
“You are – because I can’t say were – my best friend, the love of my life, and everyone you touched felt just as special as I did. Your energy was contagious, lighting up every room you walked into.
“None of this feels real, and I can’t wrap my head around this new reality of not having you here. I’m struggling to figure out how to live in a world without you by my side.”

The influencer reflected on getting to be ‘kids again’ with Payne and ‘always finding joy in the smallest things’, praising her partner for having ‘the kindest soul and the most fun-loving spirit’, adding it feels like she’s ‘lost the best part’ of herself.
And Cassidy also shared a letter Payne wrote to her about their future together.
She says the pair sat outside one evening several weeks previously ‘manifesting [their] lives together’ and the singer gave her a note which she keeps ‘close’, even though Payne ‘told [her] not to look at it’.
According to Cassidy, it says: “Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged & together forever 444.”
In her Instagram post, the meaning of 444 is explained as ‘the favorite number sequence of the angels’, saying you will see the sequence when ‘feeling alone’.
Cassidy’s post resolves: “Liam, I know we’ll be together forever, but not in the way we had planned. You’ll always be with me. I’ve gained a guardian angel.

“I will love you for the rest of my life and beyond, carrying our dreams and memories with me everywhere I go.”
And it’s not taken long for social media users to flock online in support of Cassidy, many devastated after hearing Payne’s future plans.
One Twitter user said: “Wait this is devastating my heart goes out to her.”
“My heart aches so bad for this woman, i really hope she is okay,” another added, as a third commented: “Manifesting she finds happiness again.”

A US Air Force veteran-turned-influencer and his brother have been jailed in Dubai after alleging they’d been ‘drugged’.
Joseph and Joshua Lopez first appealed for the country’s help last month, after a night out in Dubai ended with them waking up in a police car.
The pair had originally flown to the United Arab Emirates on May 25 to record content for their social media pages, and on June 2 they were leaving a nightclub when they allegedly encountered an Uber driver who offered to take them to an afterparty at a hotel.
Speaking to Fox and Friends First, veteran Joseph claimed the brothers were given ‘platters of food, hookahs, a bottle’, so he just decided to ‘go with it’.
After the party at the hotel came to an end, Joseph and Joshua were invited to a yacht party were they were allegedly handed a huge bill, which Joseph believed as a ‘misunderstanding’.
After seemingly clearing up the issue, he was allegedly given a drink by an unidentified woman.
“I literally don’t remember anything for the rest of the night except for a few seconds here and there,” he said.
When he came around, Joshua and Joseph were in the back of a police car, facing charges of assaulting an officer, resisting arrest, damaging a patrol vehicle and alcohol consumption.

In the UAE, alcohol consumption is only permitted in licensed establishments such as bars, restaurants and hotels. It is illegal to be drunk in public or to walk outdoors with a drink in your hand, with such crimes punishable with a fine of around $1,360, or up to six months in jail.
Joshua and Joseph were initially released on bail, but were banned from leaving the country as they awaited their court appearances.
Last week, Joshua and Joseph appeared in court to face the charge of alcohol consumption and were each sentenced to one month in prison.
Their sentences may be extended if they are convicted of the remaining charges, which they are expected to face tomorrow (August 20).
In their interview with Fox, the brothers said the State Department were ‘aware of the situation’.

However, they urged authorities to do more, saying: “Our lives are at stake here. Like the amount of years in prison that these charges can give us… It could be this could ruin our lives.”
The organization Detained in Dubai, which sheds light on people facing legal issues in the UAE, called for US diplomatic intervention in a post about the brothers’ situation.
“Without diplomatic intervention, these boys face potentially years in jails notorious for human rights abuse and torture”, CEO Radha Stirling said.
“Joseph Lopez is an air force veteran who helps people in difficult situations through his mental health advocacy. He and his brother deserve every effort from the US government to bring him home,” she said.

A clip of Saoirse Ronan of The Graham Norton Show has gone viral with social media users flooding online to praise the actor.
Yesterday (October 27), Ronan (The Outrun) was joined on host Graham Norton’s famous couch by Paul Mescal (Gladiator 2), Eddie Redmayne (The Trial of the Chicago 7) and Denzel Washington (Man on Fire), who is also starring alongside Mescal in the upcoming Gladiator film.
Speaking about the preparation for his latest role in the series, The Day of the Jackal, Redmayne explained to the rest of the couch how he was taught how to use his mobile phone as a weapon – you should be able to see where this is going.
He noted rather than whipping it out to dial 999, he was shown how to use the physical phone to do some damage to someone by whacking it against someone’s throat.
Mescal then joked: “Who’s actually going to think about that though? If someone attacked me I’m not going to go, ‘Phone’.”
The Normal People actor’s comment received an outpouring of laughter from Redmayne alongside the audience.
Ronan then tried to interject, however, Norton then joined Mescal in miming checking through his pockets for a phone, with Mescal continuing: “‘Mom, one sec.’ BANG!”
“That’s a very good point,” Redmayne responded, however, little did the men realize Ronan was about to make an even better – and much more important – one.

Having tried to interject multiple times, Ronan was finally able to comment: “That’s what girls have to think about all the time. Am I right ladies?”
Cue moments of widened eyes in slightly startled realization and a moment of silence from the other actors on the couch, Mescal and Redmayne clocking on fairly quickly and nodding their heads in agreement with a few mumbled ‘Yeahs,’ and audience members then jumping in with cheers of support for Ronan’s comment.
And it hasn’t taken long for the moment to go viral with social media users echoing a similar sentiment online.
Ronan ‘gottem’ (BBC/ The Graham Norton Show)
One Twitter user said: “Me liking every single tweet of saoirse ronan gagging the men at the graham norton show.”
“There’s still time, you can still go as Saoirse Ronan silencing Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington and Eddie Redmayne on the Graham Norton Show couch for Halloween,” another added.
A third commented: “That’s mother.”
A fourth wrote: “The thing that angered me the most is that Saoirse Ronan, the only woman on the panel, had to almost fight to make her point amongst a group of laughing men who didn’t consider her input or the experiences of women. Almost as if that’s the entire f**king problem isn’t it?”
“Saoirse Ronan is a queen. Men need a reminder what it’s like being a woman so they can appreciate their privilege. The silence after she said that speaks volumes,” a fifth added.
And a sixth resolved: “Love the immediate concession from the guys, lmao, she gottem.”
UNILAD has contacted Paul Mescal’s representatives for comment.

MMA fighter Idris Abdurashidov claims he’s been disqualified ‘for life’ after performing an illegal move during his debut professional boxing match.
On Sunday (October 20), mixed martial arts (MMA) Russian fighter Idris Abdurashidov stepped into the ring for his first ever professional boxing match against Iran’s Bagher Faraji at the Ali Boxing Club in Phuket, Thailand.
And it looked like Faraji would come out of the match victorious, until Abdurashidov struck out in the fourth round.

Just seconds away from the fourth round coming to an end, Abdurashidov unleashed a kick at his opponent’s head – an illegal move.
Despite the controversy of the move, the fighter shared a video of the moment onto his social media, seemingly boasting about the moment.
The footage shows the moment Abdurashidov’s foot strikes out, making direct contact right with the side of Faraji’s face, immediately knocking him out, the boxer flopping straight to the floor.
The post reads: [Translation] “So he debuted in professional boxing.
“And disqualification for life, this kick with the leg I threw away with a machine gun!”
It’s unclear where or from what Abdurashidov has been ‘disqualified’ from.
UNILAD has contacted Abdurashidov’s representatives and Ali Boxing Club for comment.
And it’s not taken long for people to flood to the post to weigh in.

One Instagram user said: “You were getting embarrassing and you had to cheat. Classless and I’m glad you’re banned for life. 0-1 boxing.”
“How are you proud of this? Easy to catch someone with a kick when they’re only expecting punches from a shorter range. This was nothing to be proud of and you should have faced more than just a ban,” another added.
A third commented: “The leg kick and running away from the ring, if it had continued for another thirty seconds, you would have been knocked out.”
“LIFETIME BAN FROM ALL MMA SPORTS, BOXING, UFC, KICKBOXING, ETC. BAN HIM FOR LIFE,” a fourth said.
And a fifth echoed: “Idris, this is a cowardly act and you should be banned from all combat sports for your lifetime.”
Abdurashidov later shared a photograph of himself and Faraji clenching hands together and posing for the camera stating: “We shook hands between us, everything is fine, we made up.”
However, a user noted: “This just shows he’s a good dude. It doesn’t negate the fact that you’re a clown who deserves a lifetime ban from combat sports.”
UNILAD has contacted Bagher Faraji’s representatives for comment too.
