Hawk Tuah girl was mysteriously spotted in a Simpsons episode from 1992.
The “Hawk Tuah Girl” has surprisingly appeared in an episode of The Simpsons, and now people are convinced the show foresaw her rise to internet fame.
This isn’t the first time viewers have claimed The Simpsons predicted major events. Over the years, fans have pointed out uncanny parallels between the show’s episodes and real-life occurrences, fueling a long-running conspiracy that the animated series possesses some sort of prophetic ability.
From Donald Trump’s presidency to the 9/11 attacks, and even the 2024 U.S. presidential debate, the show’s episodes often seem eerily close to reality. The latest addition to this trend? An apparent nod to Haliey Welch—now widely recognized as the “Hawk Tuah Girl”—in a decades-old episode.
Welch shot to viral fame after a vox pop interview with Tim and Dee TV. When asked for her secret to “making men go crazy,” she replied:
“You gotta give it that HAWK TUAH,” mimicking a spitting gesture, then added, “Spit on that thang.”
For context, “that thang” refers to one’s own hand before executing a rugged handshake, meant to exude dependability and grit. While some viewers might interpret the phrase differently, Welch has clarified the intended meaning.
As the clip gained traction online, it triggered the internet’s unwritten rule: if something goes viral, someone will inevitably find a Simpsons episode that seems to have predicted it.
Sure enough, fans on X (formerly Twitter) believe they’ve identified the moment the show foresaw Welch’s viral moment.
One user wrote:
“Did The Simpsons predict Hawk Tuah? Season 4, Episode 8, New Kid on the Block. Bart falls in love after she spits on that thang… or Bart’s hand, anyway.”
Another commented: “The Simpsons predicted Hawk Tuah.”
And someone else added: “They actually predicted a lot of s***. It’s kind of crazy.”
The episode introduces a new character, Laura, who becomes Bart’s babysitter and crush. However, Laura is dating school bully Jimbo Jones, much to Bart’s dismay. In a bid to impress her, Bart orchestrates a prank call to Moe’s Tavern, which leads to Moe storming in with threats. This act ultimately causes Laura to break up with Jimbo.
But where does the “hawk tuah” moment come in?
During one scene, Laura pranks Bart as they sit outside the Simpson family home. She pretends to read his palm, painting a picture of future wealth: a tennis court, a mansion, and a swimming pool. At the end of the prank, she spits on Bart’s hand, mirroring the spitting gesture Welch demonstrated in her viral video.
Whether coincidence or another eerie prediction, The Simpsons has once again managed to find itself at the center of internet speculation.
