When discussing famous prophets, French astrologer Michel de Nostredame—better known as Nostradamus—and Bulgarian mystic Baba Vanga (born Vangeliya Pandeva Surcheva) are among the most recognized names.

Despite being born nearly five centuries apart, the pair have been credited with foreseeing some of modern history’s most significant events. Their alleged predictions include the 9/11 attacks, the Chernobyl disaster, and the Great Fire of London, among others.

Skeptics often dismiss their prophecies as coincidences. Still, many people mark the start of a new year by examining what these famed seers had to say about the future—and 2025 is no exception.

Both Nostradamus and Baba Vanga have reportedly made eerily similar predictions for this year, hinting at widespread conflict in Europe.

Nostradamus, who passed away in 1566, left behind a collection of 94 poetic quatrains in his 1555 book Les Prophéties. Known for predicting the death of his friend King Henry II, the rise of Adolf Hitler, and the assassination of JFK, Nostradamus also appears to have made unsettling forecasts for 2025.

One such prophecy warns of an “ancient plague” ravaging Europe and turmoil in Britain, writing:
“When those from the lands of Europe, see England set up her throne behind, her flanks, there will be cruel wars. The ancient plague will be worse than enemies.”

Another chilling verse reads:
“A great pestilence from the past returns, no enemy more deadly under the skies,” according to Metro.

Some enthusiasts of Nostradamus also speculate that his line, “The Cock will see the Eagle, its wing poorly finished/by the Lion will it be put into extremity,” might refer to the English Premier League. Sky History has suggested that Crystal Palace, nicknamed the Eagles, could face adversity against Tottenham Hotspur, whose crest features a cockerel.

The famed prophet also predicted that 2025 would witness a “decrease in the influence of established Western countries” and the rise of “new world powers” as prolonged warfare leaves soldiers “exhausted.”

Baba Vanga, born in 1911 and blind from childhood, also gained fame for her alleged visions of the future. She is credited with predicting events such as the death of Princess Diana and extreme weather occurrences in 2022.

For 2025, Vanga reportedly foresaw war engulfing Europe, stating, “Russia will not only survive, it will dominate the world.” She also claimed that a large portion of the continent would be left “devastated” by conflict.

Outside of geopolitical predictions, Vanga also made some bold forecasts for other realms. She predicted that Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton would win his eighth World Championship during the 2025 season and that extraterrestrials would make contact with Earth during a major sporting event.

In addition, she anticipated significant scientific breakthroughs, warning that a major power might deploy a biological weapon as soon as 2024.
