Mike Tyson Makes Startling Admission Weeks After Jake Paul Fight
Mike Tyson had made a startling admission only weeks after his fight with Jake Paul.
The legendary fighter, 58, stepped back into the ring on November 15 to face off against the 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer in a historic event broadcast live from the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The match became the most-streamed sporting event in history, drawing over 108 million live viewers and millions more on replay.
Despite Tyson’s strong performance in the first two rounds, Jake Paul ultimately claimed victory, with Tyson’s age showing as the bout progressed. The two fighters, who were later suspended after the match, ended on a cordial note, shaking hands. However, the event wasn’t without controversy as Jake’s brother, Logan Paul, faced backlash for allegedly “stealing the moment” during the post-fight proceedings.
In a recent appearance on The Covino & Rich Show, Tyson made some unsettling remarks about the fight, admitting that he has very limited memory of what transpired.
“Listen, you know what I remember,” Tyson said. “Coming back from the first round, and then the next thing I remember Jake is doing some kind of, I don’t know; what was he doing?”
Host Rich Davis clarified, explaining that Paul had bowed at the end of the fight as a sign of respect.
“That’s the last thing I remember,” Tyson added.
When asked about his thoughts on Jake Paul’s skills, Tyson focused instead on the physical toll the fight took on him.
“I don’t remember it. But my body was really sore (after the fight),” he said. “My chest, my stomach was really sore. The day after I woke up and said to my wife, ‘Why did I do that?’ I just don’t know what the hell was going on.”
Despite his post-fight reflections, Tyson expressed gratitude for the opportunity in a statement released afterward, stating he had “no regrets.”
However, Tyson’s son Amir believes it may be time for his father to call it quits.
“I think he’s done,” Amir said. “My step-mom, she’s saying he’s done, and they’re a team. That’s husband and wife stuff.”
The fight officially went on the records for both athletes. Paul’s professional record improved to 11 wins and one loss, with his sole defeat coming against Tommy Fury. Meanwhile, Tyson’s storied career record now stands at 50 wins and seven losses.
In the aftermath, Jake Paul’s boxing promotion company, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), responded to accusations that the fight had been “criminally rigged.”
“Rigging a professional boxing match is a federal crime in the United States of America,” the company said in a statement. “Paul vs. Tyson was a professional match sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
“Both fighters in good faith performed to the best of their abilities with the goal of winning the fight. There were absolutely no restrictions – contractual or otherwise – around either fighter.”
